Trump Said That United States Benefits from Good Relations with Russia and China
The president said that having good relations with China is good, and good with Russia, as well as with many other countries. But we do not want to be used in our interests. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, following a working visit to Washington in December 2019, said that Trump is aware of the benefits of good relations with Russia, but there are forces in the United States that don't share this view and interfere with the establishment of contacts between the two states.
Washington doesn't want a conflict with Moscow and Beijing, despite the rivalry of major powers proclaimed by the US National Defense Strategy. This was previously stated by Chief of Staff of the US Army General James McConville, speaking on Tuesday at the Atlantic Council in the American capital.
