OREANDA-NEWSThe United States wants to conclude a new arms control agreement with Russia, China, and possibly several other countries. This was announced on Monday by US President Donald Trump, answering a question from a Russian media correspondent in an interview with reporters in the White House before leaving for Kentucky.

"However, we are now seeking a major agreement on arms control with Russia and China, and possibly someone else," the American leader said. He commented on the upcoming expiration of the Treaty on Measures to Further Reduce and Limit Strategic Offensive Arms at the beginning of 2021. "We are now working on arms control. We are doing business with China, we are doing business with Russia", Trump assured.

"It seems to me that both of these countries, Russia and China would like to do this to conclude a new agreement in the field of arms control, especially when it comes to nuclear weapons", said the head of the US administration. To the additional question of whether the United States would like to extend the START Treaty, the American leader didn't answer.
