OREANDA-NEWSUS President Donald Trump reacted to the decision of the Iraqi parliament, demanding the withdrawal of American troops from the country. According to him, for this Baghdad could face harsh sanctions. “If they do ask us to leave, if we don’t do it in a very friendly basis. We will charge them sanctions like they’ve never seen before ever. It’ll make Iranian sanctions look somewhat tame”, the media quotes the American president.

Trump recalled that in Iraq, Americans are using an air base, the construction of which was spent billions of dollars. He noted that the United States won't leave until Iran pays for the base. The day before, the Iraqi parliament voted in favor of a resolution that calls on the government to stop any foreign military presence. It's also a question of an international coalition led by the United States.

The reason for the adoption of the document was the American operation to kill Iranian general Karem Suleimani at the Baghdad international airport. Trump ordered a rocket attack on the head of the elite unit of Al-Quds.
