OREANDA-NEWSTurkey is actively negotiating with the Libyan Government of national consensus on the construction of a military base near Tripoli. This statement was made on Friday by Al Arabiya, citing unnamed military sources.

In addition, it is alleged that the PNS is discussing with Ankara the purchase of Turkish military aircraft and drones. On Thursday, the Turkish television channel, citing unnamed sources, reported that Turkey had sent militants from Somalia and Kenya to Libya and concluded the first deal with the Government of National Accord on the supply of air defense systems.

On January 19, a conference on Libyan settlement at the level of heads of state and government, including the Russian Federation, was held in Berlin. In the final document, its participants called for a ceasefire, pledged to refrain from interfering in Libyan affairs, proposed creating a single government and launching reforms to restore statehood, destroyed after NATO intervention and the fall of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime nine years ago.
