OREANDA-NEWSTurkish President Tayyip Erdogan did not rule out that Ankara could go over to unilateral actions in the Syrian province of Idlib if the agreements with Russia are not respected. He stated this position on Sunday in Istanbul during a speech broadcast by a Turkish television channel.

"We reserve the right to clean this place in our own way if the words given to us regarding the area of the Spring Shield operation in Idlib aren't restrained. We entered into an agreement with Russia to resolve the crisis in Idlib without further bloodshed. Otherwise, we we will continue to follow the path that we have determined for ourselves", Erdogan said.

In addition, he said that over the past month, at least 59 Turkish soldiers have died in this Syrian province.  Erdogan also made the statement that the Turkish armed forces “neutralized the 3.4 thousand Syrian regime military” in Idlib. In late February, after a clash with the Syrian army, in which 36 Turkish soldiers died, Ankara decided not to stop the refugees from Syria who are trying to get into the EU.
