OREANDA-NEWS. Two more deaths were recorded in Norway after vaccination with AstraZeneca. They were reported by the Norwegian Medicines Agency.

The agency said it had previously reported five patients hospitalized after being vaccinated with AstraZeneca. They have a combination of thrombosis, hemorrhage and low platelet count. One of them died at the beginning of the week, two new deaths have now become known from among these five previously hospitalized patients. As noted in the agency, it cannot be excluded that new cases may be associated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Earlier, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) announced that it is investigating incidents with patients who received the vaccine from the same batch of AstraZeneca vaccine in several EU countries and who later had thromboembolic complications.

A number of European countries, including Austria, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, Denmark, Bulgaria, Norway, Iceland, Slovenia, Cyprus, Italy, France, Germany and Spain, have suspended the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine. On Thursday, the EMA issued a recommendation to continue using the drug, after which a number of countries resumed vaccination with it. Norway is due to decide to restart AstraZeneca vaccinations this week.
