OREANDA-NEWSThe U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday approved a resolution limiting the powers of US President Donald Trump in the use of armed forces against Iran without the appropriate permission from lawmakers. The meeting was broadcast on the website of the lower house of the legislature.

The initiative was approved by 224 congressmen, 194 legislators spoke out against. The document was supported by three Republicans, and eight Democrats opposed.

The resolution obliges the president not to start military operations against Iran and on its territory until the US administration receives permission from Congress or an “armed attack on the United States” occurs. The author of the document was Member of the House of Representatives Elissa Slotkin (Democrat, from Michigan). While working at the CIA, she visited Iraq several times.
