OREANDA-NEWS  Members of the UK of Commons called on the country's government to impose sanctions against two Russian billionaires - Roman Abramovich and Alisher Usmanov. This information reported by The Times agency.

As the newspaper notes, the British parliamentarians proposed to take such measures because of the situation with Alexei Navalny, who was arrested on January 18 in Moscow. For example, a representative of the Labor Party, Margaret Hodge, called on the country's authorities to support the Russian oppositionist, recalling that earlier he himself proposed to Western countries to impose restrictions on a number of Russian oligarchs, who also own assets in the UK.

The representative of the Liberal Democrats Leila Moran demanded that the British government guarantees that it will consider the likelihood of imposing sanctions against any person, regardless of his status and material condition.

In support of Alexei Navalny, the European Union decided to impose sanctions against six Russians on October 15, 2020. Such persons as Alexander Bortnikov, the director of the FSB, Andrey Yarin, the head of the Russian president's internal policy department, and others fell under the sanctions.
