OREANDA-NEW. Of the nearly US $ 400 million allocated by the United States for military assistance to Ukraine, just over $ 35 million did not reach Kiev. The Los Angeles Times writes about this with reference to the documents on Pentagon spending that the newspaper had at its disposal.

According to the newspaper, from these documents it follows that in the American accounts of the total amount of military assistance that was allocated to Ukraine, $ 35.2 million remained. These funds were to go to purchase weapons, including grenade launchers, communications equipment, as well as equipment warships of the Ukrainian Navy. Pentagon spokeswoman Carla Gleeson confirmed to the newspaper that Ukraine has yet to transfer $ 36 million. However, the lieutenant colonel refused to name the reason why the funds have not yet been sent to Kiev. She only noted that Ukraine will receive this money “in the next few weeks”.

According to the publication, members of the US Congress are aware of the situation and require the Department of Defense to explain. According to the LA Times, in fiscal 2019, Washington was to allocate to Kiev at least $ 250 million through the Pentagon and at least $ 141 million from the State Department. Why some of this money did not reach Ukraine is not clear: the fiscal year in the United States ended on September 30.
