OREANDA-NEWSOn Monday, the United States began the formal process of withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement, which will end in a year. This is stated in a statement issued by the State Department press service to Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.

"The United States today began the process of withdrawing from the Paris Agreement. According to the terms of the agreement, the United States sent an official notice of exit to the UN, the text says. The withdrawal will be completed a year after the notification is sent".


"US President Donald Trump announced on June 1, 2017, the decision to withdraw from the contract, since he placed non-transparent economic obligations on American workers, business and taxpayers", the statement said. "The United States reduced all types of emissions. The results say for themselves: harmful emissions from 1970 to 2018 decreased by 74%, and greenhouse gas emissions from 2005 to 2017 fell by 13%". According to Pompeo, the US approach includes accounting for global energy and the use of all energy resources, efficient technologies, minerals, nuclear energy and renewable energy.
