OREANDA-NEWS. The United States has imposed new sanctions against Russia, the White House reports.

The White House said in a statement: "Today, the Joe Biden administration is taking action against Russia for the actions of its government and intelligence services against US sovereignty and interests."

The report clarifies that the US authorities have imposed sanctions against six Russian technology companies.

The release says: "The US Treasury has identified six Russian technology companies that support the cyber program of the Russian intelligence services."

"These companies are responsible for work in the technological sector of the Russian economy. We will continue to hold the Russian Federation accountable for malicious acts in cyberspace, such as the SolarWinds incident, using all available measures," the document says.

The companies of the Russian businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin, presumably operating in Africa, have come under US sanctions, according to the country's finance ministry. Earlier, the United States added to the list of sanctions and accused Prigozhin, 12 others and, presumably, three companies associated with Prigozhin of "interference in the elections."

NATO allies stand in solidarity with the United States, which on Thursday announced "actions in response to Russia's destabilizing activities," the alliance said in a statement. The document emphasizes that the allies individually and collectively take measures to strengthen the security of the alliance.
