OREANDA-NEWS  Police in Minneapolis, USA, shot and killed a black man in his car, provoking riots. This information is reported by The Independent.

Protesters gathered in the streets at the place where law enforcement officers opened fire. It is reported that the action was mostly peaceful, but some disaffected jumped onto police cars. To disperse the crowd, the police used tear gas, and several dozen police officers in overalls also arrived at the scene.

The murdered man, 20-year-old Daunte Wright, was reportedly driving with a girl when he was stopped by police. According to the mother, Wright managed to call her and noted that the air fresheners in the car caused the protests from the guards. Then the woman heard the order to hang up on the phone. When she called back a few minutes later, Wright's girlfriend informed her that he had been shot.

Police after the incident explained that there was a valid arrest warrant against the driver. It was noted that the young man got into the car and drove away when they tried to take him into custody. In this regard, one of the police officers shot at Wright. The car drove a few more blocks and stopped, crashing into another car. The young man was recognized as having died on the spot. The incident is currently being investigated.

The incident occurred against the backdrop of a tense situation in Minneapolis - there is a high-profile trial on the death of 46-year-old black security guard George Floyd. He was arrested on May 25, 2020, outside a grocery store in Minneapolis. It is alleged that he allegedly paid with a fake check. Law enforcers dragged him out of the car and laid him on the asphalt. Police officer Derain Chauvin roughly pressed Floyd with his knee, and he, without resisting, began to complain that he could not breathe. The arrested person soon died. Four police officers were fired after the incident. Police actions caused riots in the United States.
