OREANDA-NEWSThe volume of wine export from Georgia to Russia in January - September 2019 increased by 11% compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to more than 41 million bottles. This is stated in the data published on Tuesday by the National Wine Agency of the republic.

According to the agency, Russia still ranks first among countries - importers of the type of Georgian alcoholic beverages. In second place is Ukraine. From January to September this year, Georgia exported more than 6.7 million bottles of wine to Ukraine, which is 0.3% more than last year. Export of Georgian wine grew by 60% in the USA and amounted to more than 533 thousand bottles. Wine export to Poland increased by 18%, to about 3 million bottles, and also by 40% to the UK, reaching more than 93 thousand bottles.

In addition to wine, from January to September, Georgia exported 19.5 million bottles of brandy to world markets, which is 44% more compared to the same period in 2018. Within nine months, Georgia exported more than 473 thousand bottles of Georgian vodka - chacha to 24 countries of the world, which is 65% more than last year.

In total, the income of Georgia from the export of wine, brandy and chacha from January to September amounted to $ 236 million, which is 6% more compared to 2018.
