OREANDA-NEWS. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky compared the country with medieval Europe, commenting on the events in the settlement Novi Sanzhary (Poltava Region), where local residents opposed the deployment of Ukrainians evacuated from China because of a coronavirus epidemic.

“We often say that Ukraine is Europe. So, yesterday in some episodes it seemed that we are Europe from the Middle Ages,” the politician said. He suggested not to forget about the human behavior. “You know what was there. Unfortunately, I can’t name it human actions,” the President concluded.

On February 20, Ukraine evacuated 45 of its citizens and 27 foreigners from China. It was decided to quarantine people at the medical center in Novi Sanzhary. The decision of the authorities provoked protests from local residents, which turned into mass riots and clashes with the police.
