Mr Medvedev stressed that the fight against corruption calls for a comprehensive action plan that includes steps to modernise anti-corruption laws, prevent corruption in the economic and social sectors, and encourage the public to change its own behaviour and take a stand against corruption.

The President announced that he would follow up on the results of the meeting by signing a decree issuing instructions to draw up a national anti-corruption programme.

Taking part in the meeting were Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Naryshkin, Deputy Prime Minister and Government Chief of Staff Sergei Sobyanin, Prosecutor General Yury Chaika, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, as well as presidential aides, senior judicial officials and ministers.
