OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2008. President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus sent congratulations on behalf of himself and the people of Lithuania to the Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg on the national holiday, Royal Birthday.

“Today, Lithuania and Luxembourg are together building an open and unified Europe, based on common values. We have a shared responsibility to the future generations and those millions of people in the world who look upon Europe as an example to be followed”, the President wrote in his letter of congratulations.

The President also wrote he was confident that the two countries would continue working together towards establishing the space of freedom and democracy in the European Union neighbourhood and that their determined efforts to fight the global challenges of the 21st century would create a world more secure and prosperous.

President Adamkus expressed hope that in the coming years Lithuania’s and Luxembourg’s economic and cultural cooperation would be further strengthened and that mutual understanding and support would bring the two nations even closer together.
