OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2009. A delegation led by Roman Philimonov, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg visits Ashgabat. The delegation represents the largest companies and firms of the Russian Federation including Yarovit Holding, Vozrozhdeniye, Raritet, Gruppa Petroles and others known well in Turkmenistan.

St. Petersburg and Turkmenistan are bound with long-term fruitful cooperation. Today this cooperation has entered a new active phase. As is known, during the state visit to the Russian Federation President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Russia’s northern capital and had a meeting with Governor Valentina Matvienko. During the talks the sides discussed the potential of cooperation and opportunities to expand partnership and agreed that the concrete proposals would be considered during the visit of the official delegation of St. Petersburg to Ashgabat.

The delegation consisting of the heads of the state-run enterprises and large companies of one of the largest regions of Russia will hold the talks with the Government of Turkmenistan focused on development of mutually advantageous cooperation particularly in the fuel and energy sector, construction and textile industries. During the meetings at the national ministries and departments the partners are going to consider the opportunities to implement the projects designed specially for Turkmenistan in compliance with the Turkmen leader’s suggestions. In particular, it concerns construction of road and transport infrastructure, production and procurement of power and railroad equipment.

The priority fields of bilateral partnership include the humanitarian sphere, in particular the sphere of education. The delegation will hold the talks at the Ministry of Education to consider the opportunities to establish close contacts among Turkmen and Russian scientists and teachers of the institutions of higher education.
