OREANDA-NEWS Arkady Rotenberg intends to invest more than 129 billion rubles in tourism projects in Russia in the next five years. He called the resort and recreational areas of the "new format" in the Southern and Siberian Federal Districts the key projects.

As explained by the businessman of RBC, the projects of the territories of the "new format" will include the construction of hotels, apartments, water parks, entertainment and wellness infrastructure in all price segments. It is also planned to improve public spaces, beaches and eco-routes, and some of these spaces will be made publicly available with the consent of local authorities.

According to Mr. Rotenberg, the first stages of resorts will be launched in 2026 in the Crimea, Krasnodar Krai and Altai. He assured that the emphasis will be on an "affordable offer" in three-four-star hotels "for every taste and budget." In Crimea, resorts will be built on the site of Soviet sanatoriums on the southern shore of the peninsula, which the entrepreneur bought for reconstruction in 2019. In the Krasnodar Territory, it is planned to expand its presence in Gelendzhik by "creating a new comfortable tourist environment." Details of projects in the Siberian Federal District are not given.

Arkady Rotenberg added that he sees a high potential for creating integrated resorts for family holidays in the Far East. "Now we are looking at several potential sites in the Primorsky Territory," the businessman said.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said that by 2030 it is planned to create year-round sea resorts in Russia on the Baltic, Azov, Black, Caspian and Japanese seas. It is assumed that these resorts will create at least 44 thousand new hotel places.
