OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation proposes to change the format of investment partnerships, allowing citizens with the status of an individual or individual entrepreneur, investment funds and managing partners to join them. RBC writes about this with reference to the amendments to the law "On Investment Partnership" and the legislation on notaries developed by the ministry.

Such changes are designed to solve the problem of a sharp decline in the private equity and venture capital investment market. In the near future, as told in the press service of the department, the amendments will be published, and they should come into force in the second half of the year.

Only a citizen who has the status of a qualified investor (assigned depending on the size of the property, education, and work experience in the securities market) will be able to become a member of an investment partnership.

The essence of the reform is that investment partnerships investing in technology projects for a long time have received some preferences. For those who speculatively buy and sell securities on the market, on the contrary, conditions will worsen. The authorities also decided to lift other significant restrictions.

As stated in the explanatory note, such liberalization will allow attracting institutional investors (banks, non-governmental pension funds, insurance companies) to direct and venture investments. Pavel Terentyev, an analyst at Advance Capital, agrees that the range of potential investors will grow significantly in the new conditions.
