OREANDA-NEWS In April 2023, the average amount of consumer loans issued in Russia reached a record 328.5 thousand rubles. This is reported in the report of the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI).

The average size of such loans increased by 4.3 percent compared to March, then it amounted to 315.1 thousand rubles. At the same time, compared to April 2022, this indicator jumped by 102.5 percent. Experts explain such a sharp increase in the average loan receipt by the effect of a low base. Against the background of the reaction of the retail lending market to sanctions last spring, the amount of consumer loans decreased significantly (162.2 thousand rubles in April 2022).

The largest average consumer loans last month were registered in Moscow (548.4 thousand rubles), Moscow Region (461.3 thousand rubles), Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (KhMAO, 428.3 thousand rubles), St. Petersburg (413.3 thousand rubles) and Leningrad Region (365.2 thousand rubles). The rating was compiled by NBKI among 30 leading regions for this type of loans.

At the same time, compared with March in April, the average size of consumer loans increased in almost all regions of Russia, the largest increase was shown by the Tula Region (plus 10.9 percent), the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (plus 8.9 percent) and the Irkutsk Region (plus 8.8 percent). However, in the Orenburg Region and Udmurtia, citizens on average applied for a loan for smaller amounts — the indicator decreased by 4.1 and 2.4 percent, respectively.
