OREANDA-NEWS  The State Duma proposes to increase the minimum wage to 30 thousand rubles, Izvestia writes. The corresponding bill with amendments to the law on minimum wage was prepared by the head of the Labor Committee Yaroslav Nilov.

The document is designed to ensure a decent standard of living for Russians in conditions of inflation and lower incomes due to the imposition of sanctions, the authors claim.

"In the context of sanctions pressure, it is necessary to radically revise the policy regarding income of the population. First of all, it is necessary to establish a minimum wage that can provide an acceptable standard of living for both the employee and his children. Taking into account the draft law, it is proposed to set the minimum wage from January 1, 2025 in the amount of 30 thousand rubles per month," the explanatory note to the bill says.

The low level of the minimum wage leads to unjustified differentiation of household incomes and a decrease in demand, and also slows down GDP growth, leading to the growth of the shadow segment of the economy, the document says.

Earlier, economists predicted that a "salary revolution" was beginning in Russia against the background of a special military operation.
