OREANDA-NEWS Microsoft has received a notification from the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) about the company's non-payment of taxes in the amount of almost $ 29 billion. This is reported on the corporation's website.

We are talking about the period from 2004 to 2013. In September of this year, the company received a notification from the tax service, demanding to pay $ 28.9 billion, as well as fines and interest.

According to Microsoft, the reason for the disagreement with the tax was that the company distributed profits over this period of time between countries and jurisdictions. "We disagree with the proposed changes and will strongly challenge NOPA through the IRS Administrative Appeals Service and, if necessary, through legal proceedings," the company said.

Microsoft added that we do not expect a final solution to these issues in the coming year.

Earlier it was reported that Microsoft officially recognized Windows 11 21H2 obsolete. The version of the operating system released in October 2021 received two full years of support with updates. Since October 10, 2023, the OS has stopped receiving updates and security patches. Microsoft urged users to upgrade to a newer version of the OS.
