OREANDA-NEWS  The financial losses of the Mariinsky Theatre from unsold tickets amounted to about 12 billion rubles over the past three years. This is reported by "Sound Media" with reference to TASS.

Valery Gergiev, artistic director and general director of the cultural institution, said at a press conference that the losses were mainly related to the coronavirus pandemic. He added that a large number of large theaters, including the Mariinsky, lost up to 70 percent of revenue.

At the end of March, Moscow theaters noticed a surge in attendance. In some halls, the occupancy rate reaches 100 percent.

Earlier, the Sovremennik Theater in Moscow denied receiving a statement about the dismissal of People's Artist of Russia Liya Akhedzhakova.
