OREANDA-NEWS  Unilever has approached one hundred percent biodegradability of household chemicals supplied to Russia. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the company's report on sustainable development.

The company noted that the biodegradability of all Unilever home cleaners in Russia is more than 98 percent — therefore, during use and flushing, they decompose into salts and water without harming the environment.

It is specified that by 2030 Unilever plans to achieve one hundred percent biodegradability of its products. This is due to the replacement of a synthetic thickener with a natural polymer in 2022.

In March 2022, Unilever announced the suspension of deliveries of its products to and from Russia, and also cut all financing of projects in the country. Nevertheless, cosmetics and household chemicals factories in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg continued to work.
