OREANDA-NEWS. January 29, 2010. The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is a gathering of the world’s leading gas producers, which possess 73% of the world natural gas reserves and account for 42% of global gas production. Energy ministers from 11 countries signed the GECF charter and an intergovernmental agreement setting out the organisation's principles on December 23, 2008, in Moscow.

GECF members include Iran, Algeria, Bolivia, Libya, Russia, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Qatar, Egypt, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Kazakhstan and Norway have observer status. GECF headquarters are in Doha (Qatar).
