OREANDA-NEWS. December 07, 2012. The meeting, which was held ahead of International Human Rights Day, addressed current issues related to defending citizens’ rights and freedoms.

Vladimir Lukin spoke about the new concept to reform the penal system, problems pertaining to the army, particularly providing housing for officers and ensuring safe use of weapon disposal sites. The meeting also addressed freedom of conscience, especially in relation to non-traditional religions.

In addition, Vladimir Putin touched on a terrible recent crime: the killing of a journalist in Kabardino-Balkaria. The President expressed certainty that the law enforcement agencies will do everything possible to find and punish the criminals involved.
