OREANDA-NEWS. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during a visit to Kiev said that Crimea is lost for Ukraine. This was reported by Novoye Vremya newspaper with reference to an unnamed participant in the meeting between American politician and the Crimean activist Emine Dzhaparova.

The publication says that Dzhaparova asked the White House to keep Crimea in sight of Washington’s foreign policy, as well as help with organizing a conference on the Crimea in the US capital.

According to a source, Pompeo replied that world states realize that the peninsula is lost for Ukraine, since Kiev had given it, and Russia is not the country from which something can be taken away.

Pompeo visited Kiev on January 31. He held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who thanked the Secretary of State for his firm position on the issue of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
