OREANDA-NEWS. The first prime minister of Belarus Vyacheslav Kebich is gone. He was 84 years old. This was reported by the state information agency BelTA. The cause of death is not given in the message. However, at the end of November, it became known that Kebich was diagnosed with coronavirus of a new type.

In December 1991, Kebich was among those who signed the Belovezha Accords, which ended the existence of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and proclaimed the creation of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Kebich was born on June 10, 1936. After working at the Minsk Machine-Tool Plant, in the 1980s he came to work in the Communist Party, and in the second half of the decade he headed the Belarusian State Planning Committee. Since 1990, he headed the Council of Ministers of Belarus. Then Kebich became the first prime minister of the independent Republic of Belarus.
