OREANDA-NEWS. Russia would not welcome the appearance of new sanctions against it and hopes, that the political will to continue the dialogue will prevail, said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

«We know, that talks about sanctions, unfortunately, are conducted both in Brussels and in the United States with absolutely maniacal persistence. This is something, that we would not welcome, this is something, that we would not like. We hope, that the political will to continue the dialogue will prevail, and we will solve the most difficult issues of our relations exclusively within the framework of dialogue», Peskov told reporters in response to a question whether Russia is ready for tough sanctions against it and whether it has an answer to this.

He added, that on the other hand, the potential threats of unfriendly manifestations «of course, oblige us to be in constant mobilization and readiness for such manifestations». Peskov noted, that the Russian side has never taken retaliatory measures, that could harm the country. «It has always been thought out and it has always been in our own interests», the Kremlin spokesman added.

Peskov also said, that Russia is ready to take into account the «concerns of it's counterpart», but considers it's own interests a priority.
