OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian defense system, built before the start of the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), has become a real trap for Kiev. This was reported in The Washington Post with reference to former US Marine and military expert Mark Kanzian.

He stressed that for a successful offensive, at least a three-fold advantage is needed to break through the defense line. However, the Russian defensive system turned out to be so powerful and thought out in detail that the APU needs a much greater numerical advantage.

"Russian artillery installations, which also play a key role in defense, have advanced technologies, are able to recognize new targets and strike in a matter of minutes," the newspaper noted.

Earlier, former Pentagon adviser Douglas McGregor predicted that Russian troops could surround Kharkiv during a successful offensive. He also noted that the failure of the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was a "trap" prepared by Russia for Kiev.
