OREANDA-NEWS. The DB70 performance tests were successfully performed in the Sea of Japan in January, 2007.

According to the press service of Transmashholding, the diesel manufactured by the Bryansk Engineering Plant (BEP) was mounted on a tanker of 47 tons displacement built by a South Korean shipyard for the Indian company Great Eastern Shippin.

Alexander Obozov, a BEP designer who took part in the diesel commissioning, said that the engine was fitted with an alpha-oiler and monitoring system of bearing condition.

The 8,340 h.p. diesel working condition tests lasted for four days. Among the features checked for compliance were fuel consumption, vessel speed, diesel power, etc.

The specialists say that all the DB70 assemblies showed proper working features and the performance tests were completed successfully. Upon the open inspection implementing the diesel disassembling and check of all units, the experts said that the BEP series diesels ordered by Hyundai (a total of six diesels has been shipped, the seventh engine is to be shipped to South Korea in March) were showing a permanently high quality.
