OREANDA-NEWS. January 27, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received CEO of Belgian ENEX process engineering SA Mr. Koen Minne.

Greeting the Turkmen leader the businessman thanked Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the opportunity to discuss the priority aspects of bilateral cooperation. Mr. Koen Minne emphasized that the business circles in Europe and particular in Belgian were highly interested in strengthening long-term contacts with Turkmenistan viewed as a dependable and very promising partner. Taking an opportunity the ENEX CEO congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on the accomplishment of global importance – approving the Resolution on the Reliable and Stable Transit of Energy and Its Role in Ensuring the Sustainable Development and International Development initiated by the Turkmen leader by the UN General Assembly.

Emphasizing that this initiative was aimed at tackling the urgent problem – achieving global energy security Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan stood steadfast to constructive energy international cooperation with the European partners as well.

Mr. Koen Minne reported on the progress of the projects implemented by the ENEX Company in Turkmenistan and put forward the proposals on further intensification of collaboration in the fuel and energy and telecommunication sectors in particular. The sides touched upon the issues related to the joint work, specifically cooperation with ENEX’s partner – Schneider Electric successfully operating in Turkmenistan for a long time and implementing the project on modernization of the power supply network in Ashgabat. The guest informed the Turkmen leader of the progress of the project on the use of solar energy under the climatic conditions of Turkmenistan. The sides noted that another very promising trend in cooperation on the development of energy saving technologies was the use of wind energy.

Showing satisfaction at this information Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that pursuing the policy of diversifying economic development and modernizing industrial infrastructure Turkmenistan was intensively interested in attracting state-of-the-art technologies and innovations and stood ready to consider the Belgian partners’ proposals.

In conclusion the Belgian businessman thanked the Turkmen leader for the opportunity of a personal meeting and assured that the ENEX Company was sincerely proud of cooperating with Turkmenistan and would spare no effort to justify the confidence granted to the company.
