OREANDA-NEWS. On March 28, 2007 at the Gazprom Headquarters, Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee met with Aigars Kalvitis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, reported the press-centre of  Gazprom. The meetings discussed issues relevant to deeper cooperation between Russia and Latvia in the gas sector. The parties underscored that Russia and Latvia were developing the long-term and mutually beneficial economic cooperation in the gas sector.

In 2006 Gazprom supplied 0.68 bcm of natural gas to Latvia;
Latvijas Gaze provides gas transmission, storage, distribution and marketing. The company owns the Incukalns UGS, from which gas is supplied to the Novgorod and Pskov Oblasts (nearly 1bcm of gas annually), as well as Latvia and Estonia;
At present Latvijas Gaze share capital is represented by 39,9 mln. shares and divided in the following way: 34% stake is owned by Gazprom, 47% by E.ON Ruhrgas AG, 16% by Itera Latvija, 2,9% by minority shareholders as well as 117 shares by the Latvian Government.
