OREANDA-NEWS. “Government spares no effort to make Ukraine the World Trade Organization member,” the Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych stated at the government sitting September 11, Ukrainian Cabinet's press office reported.

At the same time, the Head of Government emphasized that the current situation concerning some lines of cooperation with the European Union “does not exactly satisfy us”.

Viktor Yanukovych addressed these problematic lines of cooperation, noting that visa regime is “rather strict and we need to consider this issue and express our point of view on obstacles in our relations with the EU. As for trade – there is a system which ever worsens situation for our commodity producers at the European markets. New antidumping cases are opened, customs fees for our production increased”.

Having this said, Viktor Yanukovych assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Economy to investigate these issues. “We wouldn’t like that a new ten-year agreement with the European Union be prepared against a background of worsening of relations with the EU in some fields. On September 14, during the Ukraine-EU Summit we must tackle every issue very seriously with the European Commission,” the Head of Government stressed.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shall prepare a fundamental report agreed with other ministries for the Ukraine-EU Summit, taking into consideration all positions with the purpose “to make public the issues which are on the agenda of this meeting in Kyiv before signing a new agreement.”
