OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2007. The preservation of natural environment and restoration of green zone represent issues of utmost importance in Armenia. Merciless tree-cutting, domestic waste as well as industrial waste disposal have had negative impact on ecology and threaten to cause natural disasters. Preventing such disasters and endorsing the large tree-planting is the project carried out this spring by HayAntar with support from VivaCell.

Thanks to the tree-planting project carried out by HayAntar with VivaCell’s support, 224,500 tree sets were obtained, planted and provided follow–up care in three marzes of Armenia: Lori, Tavush and Kotayk. In the frames of this project, pine-tree, walnut, oak tree, maple, lime-tree, apple tree, pear, ash-tree and other trees are planted.

On September 18 the heads of HayAntar and VivaCell together with journalists made a check-up tour in the areas of Lori marz Gugark region included in the tree-planting project carried out in spring. The purpose of the visit was to observe the condition of the trees planted as a result of HayAntar-VivaCell cooperation and to see if the trees have received proper care during hot summer months.

“VivaCell is not only the leading mobile operator in Armenia and a successful endeavorer, but also a corporate citizen responsible for the future of the Motherland. The love for and responsibility toward Motherland are not abstract notions. On the contrary, they are tangible, and the careful attitude toward Mother Nature is the duty of each and every patriotic person and organization. Humans are part of Nature and have to live in harmony with it. The purpose of VivaCell’s support is to retain nature for future generations. We appreciate the work of HayAntar and our cooperation in this respect”, said Ralph Yirikian, the General Manager of VivaCell.
