OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2007. Results of the competition for the construction of a refinery in the region of Homs and Deir-ez-Zor will be announced at the beginning of 2008, as was advised by a Plenipotentiary representative of NWOG in Syria. According to him, the management of the country decided for rendering NWOG in concert with NWOG Inc. the operator of the project.

The competition was announced early in 2007 but the deadline for announcing the results was postponed several times because of reelection of the President of SAR. Now when the country experiences political stability, its management was able to make a final decision with regard to the given project.

The above mentioned project in the region of Homs and Deir-ez-Zor implies creating a refinery with the capacity of 140 000 barrels a day, as well as improving the quality of oil refinery up to the standards “Euro-4” and “Euro-5”.
The cost of construction is estimated at $1.2 billion. The deadline of the realization of the project is 3 to 5 years.

In the nearest future Mr. Malyshev is expected to arrive in Syria for discussing the details of the project.
