OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2007. In compliance with the Terms of Reference, within three months, the specialists from SibCOTES will consider three options to upgrade power capacities of the plant. The first option provides for the replacement of turbines in two stages. At the first stage they will consider the conversion of turbine units to steam conditions of 130 kgf/cm2 and 545°C. At the second stage they will consider the construction of the power units with condensate turbines with steam conditions 130-240 kgf/cm2.

The second option for the reconstruction provides for the construction of a new main building and commissioning of power units with the total capacity of 600 MW with steam conditions 130 kgf/cm2 and 545°C. The third option will consider the construction of a new main building and commissioning of power units with condensate turbine units with steam conditions 240 kgf/cm2 and 565°C.

According to Alexey Kovalchuk, the Project Manager, the reconstruction will allow the Power Plant to improve its environmental performance, prevent the power shortage forecasted for the South Kuzbass by 2011 due to the industrial infrastructure development and the limited transfer capability of power transmission lines. Thanks to the increase in capacity, the Power Plant will also reach a higher economic performance, which will promote efficient competition and coverage of a larger segment of the sales market.
