OREANDA-NEWS. December 3, 2007. Gurievsk Metallurgical Plant (enterprise of Managing company ESTAR) introduces a new technology allowing it to reduce considerably the content of detrimental impurities in the finished metal. The technology of furnace slag cutoff is based on a steel pouring spout of special construction.

“Using such method will allow us to reduce the sulphur content in the finished metal by 0.005%. It is also planned to decrease ferroalloy consumption by 5-10% and increase the lining resistance of pouring ladles by 10-15%”, commented Gennady Sheremetov, senior processing engineer of the GMP technical department, describing the achievements and plans of the enterprise.

The cost of design works for the steel pouring spout is about 1 mln rubles.
