On December 18, 2007 according to the National Bank of Moldova, in January 2007, volume of remittances totalled $ 60,37 million, in February-$ 65,37 million, in March-$ 83,79 million, in April-$ 79,72 million, in May-$ 91,63 million, in June-$ 93,94 million, in July-$ 123,82 million, in August-$ 127,02 million, in September-$ 116,99 million and in October- $ 129,56 million, respectively, reported the press-centre of National Bank of Moldova.

At the same time, according to NBM, approximately $ 727,69 million or 74,84%, were transferred through fast money transfer systems.

It is marked that in October $ 102.07 million were sent through these systems. As "InfoMarket" agency informed before, in 2006 individuals from abroad sent to Moldova $ 854,6 million or $ 171,35 million (25,1%) more than the previous year.

In particular, in I quarter of 2006, the amount of transfers amounted to $ 149,45 million, in the II quarter-$ 204,52 million, in the III quarter-$ 249,22 million, in the IV quarter-$ 251,36 million, respectively.

The largest amount of remittances was registered in December ($ 87, 69 million), August ($ 86,14 million) and September ($ 82,61 million). Of total amount of transfers $ 628.62 million or 73.5% were sent through fast money transfer systems. The largest amounts were sent from Russia and Italy.

According to the World Bank, the citizens of Moldova annually sent sums equal to 1/3 of GDP of the country.
