Belarus welcomes Chinese investments and will be creating the most favourable conditions for Chinese investors, said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with Zhou Xiaochuan, the President of the People's Bank of China, reported the Official website http://president.gov.by.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, today China is a great and powerful state in terms of both the number of population and, most importantly, in terms of economic power. “We have recently felt a strong interest on the part of Chinese investors in Belarusian economy,” the Head of State said. “We will create no problems to the investors who come to Belarus from China,” he added.

The President also thanked the leadership of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese people for their support and assistance to Belarus. “Every Belarusian knows and values highly friendship with China, the attitude of your people to our country,” Alexander Lukashenko said. Belarus will keep the promises given during the President’s visit to China, namely to be a true friend, and stronghold of China in Europe, Alexander Lukashenko added.

“As for cooperation between the central banks of the two countries, this is a very good experience for us, very serious support,” Alexander Lukashenko said and added that assets in Chinese yuans are part of the international reserve assets of Belarus.

The President of the People’s Bank of China said that China’s Prime Minister, after visiting Belarus in November 2007 and returning to China, drew the attention of the government to the need to intensify the relationship with Belarus in economy, commerce and investment.

According to Zhou Xiaochuan, his visit will help boost the cooperation between the two central banks and the two states on the whole. Belarus and China have great cooperation potential in economy, commerce and investment.
