OREANDA-NEWS. January 22, 2007. As it is known, the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev commissioned SOCAR to develop into the company meeting modern requirements and international standards. One of the important measures taken in this regard is application of the ISO international management systems in the enterprises attached to SOCAR. It should be noted that the Caspian Oil Fleet also took prompt actions to switch to ISO standards.

The Ship Repair Plant, and Diving, Search and Rescue Unit of the Fleet have been undertaking activities in accordance with ISO 9001-2000-Quality Management System for 3 years. Since the third quarter of 2006 the Caspian Oil Fleet, including operational units has been doing preparatory work to receive the certificates on ISO 90010-Quality Management and ISO 14001-Enviromental Management for International Management Standards. In order to prepare necessary documents and to take required measures, the Fleet signed a contract with Registry-Consulting CJSC of Russia. 3-stage (6-phase) preparatory work was completed successfully, and internal auditors were trained by arranging relevant seminars and trainings.

Integrated Management System, which entails Quality Management and Environmental Management of the Caspian Oil Fleet, was prepared. Also, in order to overcome the shortages, internal pre-certification and certification audits were conducted, and necessary actions were carried out. Consequently, Russian Registry conducted an audit towards the end of 2007 and the Caspian Oil Fleet was awarded the certificates confirming compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001-2000-Quality Management System and ISO 14001-2004 - Environmental Management System. The Caspian Oil Fleet anticipates preparation, application and implementation of the management system meeting the requirements of OHSAS 18001-2007-Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems in the next stage.
