OREANDA-NEWS. March 26, 2008. The Gazprom Headquarters today hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company’s Management Committee and Sergey Antufiev, Governor of the Smolensk Oblast.

The parties discussed the progress with the execution of the Agreement of Cooperation between Gazprom and the Smolensk Oblast. A focus was also placed on further development of gasification and gas supply to the regional consumers.

The parties emphasized that the regional authorities had timely and completely fulfilled their obligations with regard to the construction of gasification facilities in 2007.

The Agreement of Cooperation between Gazprom and the Smolensk Oblast Administration was signed on May 18, 2004.

In 2007 natural gas deliveries to the Smolensk Oblast averaged 2.9 bcm, with over 2.7 bcm slated for this year.

The average level of natural gas penetration in the Smolensk Oblast accounts for 58.8 per cent including 80.2 per cent in cities, towns and settlements and 20.5 per cent in rural areas. The same figures throughout Russia average 62, 67 and 44 per cent, respectively.

Between 2003 and 2007 Gazprom invested nearly RUR 389 mln to gasify the Smolensk Oblast.
