OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2008. North-West Telecom confirmed its status of the winner of the city adventure Saint-Petersburg Urban Race – two our teams have won the 1st and 2nd places in the Business class.

The victory in this popular city sports event, which is already the fifth, has become a good tradition for the Navigator team, which was the first to finish – in the same way as last year, this year's result being 2 hours 54 minutes and 38 seconds. Electronic Engineer of the St. Petersburg branch Andrey Markin and the Leading Engineer of the Telecommunication Facilities Maintenance Service of the St. Petersburg branch Arthur Guzev have brought golden medals to the Company's "piggy bank" again.

Participant s of another team of our Company – Winged Turtles – have shown enviable speed and dexterity and won the 2nd place with the result of 2 hours 58 minutes and 13 seconds. The team was represented by specialist of the Sales and Corporate Client Servicing Department of the Leningrad Oblast Branch Olga Kalashnikova and the Leading Engineer of the Information Systems Operation Service of the Leningrad Oblast Branch Sergey Nikiforov represented the team.

Another three teams from OJSC N.W. Telecom consisting of representatives of the General Directorate participated in this thrilling and spectacular race that has been one of the favourite events for residents of St. Petersburg for a long time. The teams have shown an unprecedented will to win, a real comradely spirit and worthy results. The winners are to be awarded with diplomas and medals.

The team of the Passenger TV company won the third place in this class of the race. All in all, 30 teams from 12 companies of the city and Leningrad Oblast took part in the Business class part of the event, and on the whole 185 teams, or 370 people competed in the race.

This year the old maritime island town of Kronshtadt, which was founded by Peter I, was selected as the centre of the jubilee race. The goal of the participant s was to cover about 10 km through 22 check points faster than others, marking their passage through each point with an electronic chip.

Having set off from the central square of Kronshtadt – from the main marine cathedral, our participant s have covered the route running, biking and canoeing. They showed an excellent sporting shape and achieved excellent results during the race.

They covered 4 technical stages: climbed a rope-ladder to a bridge, rafted, crossed a canal using a net and conquered a rope crossing, which was especially difficult for women.

We congratulate the medallists upon the victory and thank participant s of the three other OJSC N.W. Telecom's teams for participation in the competition:
