OREANDA-NEWS. June 17, 2008. CATEL cellular network has put into operation a new base station in Agstafa.

The Company reports that signal from that station covers the city itself and nearby adjoining populated points.

“Besides, in order to improve quality of its mobile communication in Baku and Absheron peninsula we have installed additional new base stations in Narimanov and Khatayi districts, Mekhdibad settlement and Sumgait city,” a Company’s source says.

At present Fonex network covers the Absheron Peninsula, including Baku and Sumgait, Ganja, Shamkir, Alibayramli, Mingechever, Yevlakh, Devechi, Ujar, Balakan, Kurdamir, and Nabran.

CATEL has been rendering 3G CDMA services since mid-2003 and official opening of CDMA network took place on August 13, 2004.
