OREANDA-NEWS. On 14 July 2008 was announced, that REACH is a new Regulation on chemicals and their safe production and use dealing with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. The new law entered into force on 1 June 2007.

REACH Regulation allows only EC registered and approved importers to enter EC markets. On 1 June 2007 in Helsinki, Finland, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has been created to be the central point in the REACH system. REACH Regulation will require that within the period from the 1st of June 2007 till the 1st of December 2008 all chemicals of European manufacturers and other importing countries should be pre-registered.

Crimea TITAN as one of the largest producers and exporters of chemical production realizes top-priority strategic importance of REACH registration in marketing policy of company. After working out of pre-registration file, which consists of substance identity information: EINECS number, CAS number and identifying number in chemical substances database IUPAC, export tonnage band, contact information of Representative in ЕС, on the 19th of June 2008 Crimea TITAN (represented in ЕСНА by German company OSTCHEM Germany GmbH) has submitted documents for pre-registration of the following substances: titanium dioxide pigment, monoammonium phosphate and red iron oxide; and 4 July 2008 Crimea TITAN has submitted documents for pre-registration of iron vitriol and aluminium sulphate. ЕСНА confirmed successful pre-registration and each substance submitted for registration was assigned a registration number.

It is supposed that on the 1st of December 2008 on ЕСНА web-site there will be information about pre-registered substances, and since the 1st January 2009 all the users will get access to the list of detailed information on pre-registered substances (name of substance, EINECS number and CAS number, and other identifying numbers).

Pre-registration has allowed Crimea TITAN a possibility to start procedure of full registration of its products without stopping exporting to EU. The full registration must be fulfilled till 2010.
