OREANDA-NEWS. On 11 August 2008 was announced, that the builders are to strike down scaffolding at Moskva Hotel that is currently being reconstructed by City Day of Moscow, Vladimir Resin, first deputy Moscow City Mayor, declared.

“The builders promise to strike down scaffolding throughout a perimeter of the building to allow Muscovites and visitors to Moscow to see Moskva in the appearance it will have after the reconstruction,” Mr Resin said during a traditional Saturday perambulate through the worksites in Moscow on August 9.

According to the official, the hotel is scheduled to be commissioned and open at the end of 2009. “We task to complete all works in 2008, except the rooms which are to be completed in the first half of 2009, and we will open the hotel by the end of 2009,” the first deputy Moscow City Mayor added.

Alexander Ortenberg, CEO of STRABAK, a general contractor at the construction, noted that the hotel would have the 188,000sq m area and the various number of storeys – from 8 to 16. It will also have 4 storeys above ground level on the side of Manezhnaya Square and 2 underground storeys sideways the Filyovskaya line of the Moscow Metro.

Mr Ortenberg added that the main works on the underground area were completed and the works on retail outlets and offices were scheduled to be completed at the end of 2008.
