OREANDA-NEWS. On August 12, 2008 Ambient Sound Investments (ASI), the investment firm established by the former founding engineers of Skype, has invested 200,000 euros in AirDio Wireless, a Taiwanese developer of tiny wireless networking components.

The investment was made in return for a 14 percent stake, a news release said.

Taiwan-based AirDio manufactures some of the industry's smallest SiP (system in package) modules that provide device makers with the opportunity to reduce the size of handhelds such as smartphones and mobile Internet devices.

"The agreement with ASI is a tremendous recognition to our technology development and a springboard to the global arena," said AirDio CEO Wen Tsay.

The agreement with AirDio represents ASI's third investment in emerging technology companies in Asia.

AirDio is an emerging company building networking devices equipped with innovative modules bundled with software which combines advanced radio, audio and video technologies to seamlessly link different networks (WPAN, WLAN, WMAN and WWAN) supporting the emerging voice, data and video services.

ASI, the company of the former founding engineers of Skype, uses its assets to fund emerging international technology companies.
