OREANDA-NEWS. February 2, 2009. DTEK has supported the First International Summit ‘Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Strategy and Best Practice for Sustainable Development in Eurasia’ held in Kiev (Ukraine), 27 January 2009. The event organized by UNDP Russia, the Russian Managers Association, the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University and the Kommersant-Ukraine publishing house, attracted the attention of many Ukrainian and foreign companies implementing their CSR initiatives as well as the interest of experts and NGO representatives. DTEK considers its sponsorship of the Summit an important step for the development of the Ukrainian CSR expert community and the promotion of its own CSR model at an international level.

At the opening plenary session of the Summit, Sergey Kordashenko, the HR and Corporate Communications Director of DTEK, presented his report ‘CSR Management Efficiency: a Systematic Approach to the Introduction of the Concept and the Development of the Practice’. He explained that the Company had started systematic activities in the area of corporate social responsibility in 2007 when the introduction of the CSR concept had become one of DTEK’s strategic objectives. In summer 2007, the Company launched its innovative for Ukraine and large-scale project of social partnership, which is still the flagship CSR programme of DTEK.

DTEK is the first and only Ukrainian industrial company that issued the verified Social Report in line with the GRI and АА1000 international standards. In December 2008, the integrated CSR Policy of DTEK was approved and published after discussions with internal and external stakeholder.
