OREANDA-NEWS  On 03 March was announced, that the volume of U.S. assistance provided to Moldova in 1992-2006 amounted to USD 294 mln.

Such data are cited by the Washington Profile, noting that U.S. allocates funds to support post-Soviet states within the framework of the law "Freedom for Eurasia and Emerging Eurasian Democracies and Open Markets Support Act" (1992), as well as other programs. In general, the United States provided the post-Soviet states (except for the Baltic States) with USD  27.7 bln. According to U.S. State Department, within 14 years the greatest amounts were provided to Russia - USD  11,4 bln. Then follows: Ukraine - USD  1.3 bln, Georgia - USD 725 mln, Kazakhstan - USD 636 mln, Armenia - USD  495 mln, Tajikistan - USD  458 mln, Kyrgyzstan - USD  374 mln, Uzbekistan - USD  370 mln, Belarus - USD  324 mln, Azerbaijan - USD  261 mln and Turkmenistan - USD  156 mln.
