OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2009. Commercial Port of Vladivostok OJSC has expanded its capacity of cargo reception during Arctic navigation, the company reports.

According to Dmitri Domrachev, Commercial Manager of Commercial Port of Vladivostok, the work was carried out during inter-navigation period to improve cargo accumulation and to intensify handling of home-trade fleet. Modernization and purchase of new handling equipment was performed during the period. Storage area has been expanded. Considerable part of berth surface has been replaced to guarantee quality and safe outdoor storage of cargo.

Commercial Port of Vladivostok has traditionally been a base center of socially significant Chukotka-Arctic delivery. In June-November 2008, the port handled 44 vessels. The port mainly handles containers, lubricants, equipment, consumer goods. Total volume exceeded 78,000 tonnes. The forecast for 2009 is at the level of 2008.
